Our Beloved Friskie

 

This is Friskie. She was our first foster cat. She's curious, adventurous, and endlessly playful. She loved heading outdoors, but as first timer foster parents, we did not know how to do it safely. We would try to carry her out, but she would always try to jump out of our arms and run away. Because of that, we often kept her home and avoided bringing her out.

One afternoon, she slipped through an open door and disappeared.

For 72 agonizing hours, we searched everywhere. We posted on social media, called shelters, and walked our neighborhood until our feet ached. When we finally found her shivering and terrified under our neighbor's porch, we realized something had to change. We couldn't be the only ones living in fear of losing a beloved pet.
