Android troubleshooting and setup checks

On Android, FindMyStuff is a Bluetooth tracker that works through Google’s Find Hub crowdsourced network. It is not a GPS tracker, so it will not display a continuous live location.

Location updates appear only when the tracker is detected by nearby Android devices participating in the Find Hub network. If there are no participating devices nearby, the app will keep showing the last detected location.

Run through these checks to make sure everything is set up correctly:

  1. Set the network to cover all areas

Go to your Google settings for Find Hub / Find My Device network and choose “With network in all areas”, not “High-traffic only”.

  2. Confirm your phone can use the network fully

Ensure you have a screen lock enabled (PIN, pattern, or password). This is required for the best offline finding experience.

Check permissions and background services

  • Make sure Bluetooth and Location are ON.
  • Confirm the Find Hub app has Location permission allowed.
  • Exclude Find Hub from battery optimisation so it can run reliably in the background.
